Conference Presentation Overview: Keum Boo & More
The presentatition will be on the history of Keum Boo and the various ways we can bond 24 karat gold to fine silver. There will be images through the ages of this technique as well as photos of finished work made with metal clay and the precious gold we love so much. This Power Point presentation will also touch upon our modern ’take’ of this technique using gold paste.
The workshop will be an introduction and hands on to the technique of Keum Boo: the art of bonding precious 24 karat gold to fine silver. The students will be instructed on what metal clay work to bring to the class. We will then use several ’keum boo’ techniques to permanently fuse the two metals together. The contrast of the rich, warm and glowing gold contrasting to the whitest of all the precious metals will add dimensions and versatility to the student’s future work.
